The Bristol Investment Fund (BIF), a prominent student investment society in Bristol, recently won the UK Finance League at the Shard.
This was their first time participating in the event, which was co-hosted by the Warwick Hedge Fund Society and Capitox, one of Oxford University’s premier finance societies.
BIF’s team beat twelve other society teams after delivering a compelling pitch to a panel of judges representing several leading financial institutions, including Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan, Berenberg, Bank of America, Standard Chartered Bank, and Fidelity Investments.
Ahsan Kureshi, Co-President and Chief Information Officer of Bristol Investment Fund, commented, ‘While our team was very well prepared, we were very impressed by the exceptional quality of the pitches presented by the other teams like LSE and Cambridge. For that reason we were absolutely thrilled to be announced the winners of the competition.
We are delighted to be nationally recognised as a talented and competitive investment society, with a judge telling us: “Our firm will start looking at University of Bristol applicants more closely”. We hope this gives our members, sponsors, and the university confidence in supporting us as we take the society to the next level and make it a talent bank for the financial services industry.’
Arunav Bagla, Co-President and Chairman of the Bristol Investment Fund, said, ‘Our team’s victory at the UK Finance League Stock Pitch Competition was a momentous achievement that we are all incredibly proud of at BIF. Meeting and competing with some of the most talented students across the UK and Germany was a pleasure. We appreciate the invaluable learning experience the competition offered us.
Pitching to such an esteemed panel of judges was a privilege, and winning was an amazing feeling. The team worked incredibly hard and couldn’t have done it without everyone’s dedication and effort. We are very excited about the new industry opportunities and connections this success has started opening for BIF and its members.’
BIF provides a unique platform for University of Bristol students to gain exposure to all facets of investment management.
